Publish on Huawei AppGallery

Huawei phones sold in recent years come without Google Play, so their owners install apps from AppGallery. Publish your Android app there under your own developer account, and add Huawei Push Kit so those phones get your notifications too. You submit the first version yourself; on the Pro and Business plans we upload every version after that.

Before you start
  • A HUAWEI ID, and a verified developer account on HUAWEI Developers
  • Your Android app (.apk) from Builds & downloads
  • Your store assets and a privacy policy page
  1. 1

    Create your developer account

Register on HUAWEI Developers with your HUAWEI ID and complete the identity verification, as a company or as an individual. Huawei charges no registration fee; the check can take a few days.

  2. 2

Add your app in AppGallery Connect

In AppGallery Connect, open My projects, create a project, and add an Android app with your app's package name (from your Store listing step). The package name can't be changed later.

  3. 3

Turn on push for Huawei phones

In the project, open Grow › Push Kit and turn it on. Then open Project settings › App information: download agconnect-services.json and copy the App secret. In your dashboard, open Publishing › More Android stores and add both under Huawei AppGallery. Your next build includes Huawei push: on Huawei phones without Google Play, the app registers with Huawei Push Kit, and your notifications reach them like any other phone.

Phones with Google Play keep using Firebase, as before. Huawei push only adds the phones that can't.

  4. 4

Upload the first version and submit

In AppGallery Connect, open My apps, choose your app and Version information. Upload the .apk file from Builds & downloads, fill in the description, icon, screenshots, privacy policy link and age rating, and select Submit. Huawei reviews the app, usually within a few days.

Add your review phone number and fixed code in the notes for the review, so the reviewers can sign in.

  5. 5

Pro and Business: let us upload every update

In AppGallery Connect, open Users and permissions › API key › Connect API and create an API client with the App administrator role. Copy its client ID and key into Publishing › More Android stores. From then on, every build you start is uploaded to AppGallery and submitted for review.

When our team publishes for you

With Publish it for me, tick Huawei AppGallery on the Publishing page. Then, in AppGallery Connect, open Users and permissions and add our team email as a team member with the App administrator and Operations roles. Huawei sends us the invitation; you never share your password.
