Release an update

Most changes don’t need a new app version: content, prices, pages, look, languages and sign-in settings come from your website or your dashboard and show in the app the next time it opens. Build a new version when you change your app name, icon or logo, or when we release new app features.

  1. 1

    Start a new build

Open Builds & downloads, choose Start new build and enter the new app version, for example 1.0.1. Each build gets a higher version code automatically.

  2. 2

    Publish the new version

When you publish yourself, download the new .aab (and .ipa), then create a new release in Google Play Console (and a new version in App Store Connect). On Pro and Business we upload the new version for you, and you can follow each step on the Builds & downloads page. From Growth up, a new build starts by itself when you change your app's settings.

Always use the same Android signing key. Google Play rejects updates signed with a different key.

  3. 3

    Ask people to update

To make people update to the new version, set a minimum app version: in the Yallapp plugin's Updates & maintenance settings on WordPress. The app then asks older versions to update.
