Restaurants and cafés: menu, pickup, delivery and the kitchen
A Restaurant & café app is a store for food, in the words your customers expect: your dashboard shows Menu and Kitchen, and the app shows your Menu. Choose Restaurant & café on the first page of App setup, then I don't have a website on the Website step.
Dishes and categories
On the Menu page, select Add dish and fill in its name, description, price and photos, as for any product (see Products, orders and shipping). Categories, like Breakfast, Mains and Drinks, become the tabs at the top of your menu in the app.
Options
Under Options, select Add an option group for each choice a customer makes, for example:
- Size: Small, or Large for 20 more. Customers choose at least 1 and at most 1.
- Extras: Cheese for 15 more, Bacon for 25 more. Customers choose at least 0 (optional) and at most 3.
Each option can cost more than the dish, or nothing extra. The app asks for the groups that must be chosen and shows the price as it changes. Prices are always worked out by our server, never by the phone, so the price you set is the price paid.
Pickup and delivery
Under Pickup and delivery:
- Pickup, with the address where customers collect their order, and Delivery, with a delivery fee, a minimum order for delivery and the districts or postcodes you deliver to (one per line; customers pick one). A short note like Within 3 km of Moda tells customers where you deliver.
- Opening hours for each weekday and your time zone. Closed days are left unticked.
- Preparation time: how long an order takes. Customers can't choose a time sooner than this.
- As soon as possible orders while you're open, and orders for later, every 15 minutes for example, up to a few days ahead.
When you're closed, the app says Closed now and when you open. Orders as soon as possible wait until you open; orders for later still work when you allow them.
The Kitchen page
Paid orders appear on Kitchen with what was chosen, pickup or delivery, the time and the address. You also get an email for each one. Move each order on with one button: Preparing, Ready, Out for delivery (deliveries only) and Completed, or Cancel order. An order only moves forward. Each step reaches the customer as a notification, and their order in the app shows where it is. The page refreshes by itself every 30 seconds.
Cancelled orders aren't refunded automatically: refund them with Refund under the order in Finished orders.
Payments
Customers sign in, then pay by card on a secure page of your provider (iyzico, Kashier, Fawaterk, Stripe or PayPal), on Android and iPhone: food is a physical product, so Apple's rules allow it. Add your own keys: see Card payments.
With WooCommerce
Restaurants that sell with WooCommerce get the menu wording, and their product variations work as options. In the app, an order's step follows its WooCommerce status: processing is Preparing, completed and cancelled are themselves. Option groups with extra prices, opening hours, pickup and delivery are in the Yallapp dashboard only for now.
